Name: Dr. Tetsuya Kawanishi, Project Manager, NICT, Tokyo Japan
We describe high-speed versatile modulators, which can provide various types of lightwave modulation, such as differential quadrature phase shift keying, quadrature amplitude modulation, for huge-capacity transmission systems.
Dr. Tetsuya Kawanishi received the B.E., M.E. and Ph.D. degrees in electronics from Kyoto University, in 1992, 1994 and 1997, respectively. From 1994 to 1995, he worked for Production Engineering Laboratory of Matsushita Electric Industrial (Panasonic) Co., Ltd. In 1997, he was with Venture Business Laboratory of Kyoto University. He joined National Institute of Information and Communications Technology (NICT, former the Communications Research Laboratory), Tokyo, in 1998, where he is now a project manager. He was a Visiting Scholar at University of California at San Diego, USA, in 2004.
Dr. Kawanishi has published over 250 papers in Journals and conferences (including a number of invited papers in leading Journals and conferences such as IEEE JSTQE, OFC, CLEO, LEOS, etc.) Dr. Kawanishi is senior member of IEEE. He is currently serving as Associate Editor of IEEE Photonics Technology Letters. Dr. Kawanishi received URSI Young Scientists Award in 1999.
